Over the weekend, the discount salon we frequent offered $10 cuts for kids (rather than the regular $12 price). I've been debating whether to cut Sue Sue and Cake's hair, so I jumped on the deal. They're back to chin length and very happy with their new 'dos.
The problem? All of my girls now look the same from behind, identical or not. Even Roo, who refused a cut and has hair a few inches longer than the others is hard to distinguish from the back. In the last 24 hours I have mixed up every single one of their names. I can no longer tell Tortilla and Cakes apart with a glance (until the cut, Cakes had longer hair than Tortilla. Now their hair is the same length and color and even has a wild curl in the same spot). At one point last night, I looked at one of my girls and simply said "Hey you, come here." You thinking I'm joking? I really did say that!
They think I'm teasing them when I get their names wrong. I'm going to have to start picking one of them to wear hair clips or something! I can only imagine what will happen when they go to school tomorrow (they're off today for President's Day). Something tells me their teacher is going to have the same problems I'm having right now!

I bet they make an adorable picture! What DO you do, though, when even their mom can't tell them apart (from behind, at least)?
That sounds like a tricky situation. Hopefully you'll figure out a solution (for your sake and the teacher's) that can help make identification a little easier. At least the girls just think you're teasing them. It probably feels like a silly little game to them. :o)
This post made me laugh out loud! Whenever my girls have their hair styled the same way, or are wearing their sister's "color" I get so confused! I can't imagine it with FOUR! :)
Sorry, but that's really funny. I know one mother who wrote on her baby's feet in indelible ink so she could tell them apart, but that won't work in this situation.
You could talk them into color streaks - one color for each girl.
Laughing.
Mary Anne's right! It's time for a back of the head photo and a guessing contest on your blog.
This is so funny! :) Our girls used to have very different hair colors, one a very light blonde, and one a medium-to-dark brown. Their colors have gradually gotten much closer, and it's so funny to me when I catching myself not knowing precisely who is who from the back. Our girls are fraternal, and I think they look SO different from each other, but I guess it's neat to have a tiny glimpse into a little piece of what having identicals might be like. :)
