Since my daughters have been in preschool before, I should have known this was going to happen. Here we are just a week into the school year and they all have runny noses. It's the sign that school is back in session... and the germs are back with a vengeance.
I can't complain too much. At least my girls are building their immunity. (I'm choosing to see the positive side of this). Still, it's frustrating to have ended the previous school year with pink eye and start this year with a cold. I'm pretty sure this is a cold and not allergies, just based on some of the other symptoms.
I'm not the only parent with this problem. Most of my Facebook friends who are moms have status updates relating to illness. One of my co-workers has a third grader who missed the entire second week of school due to strep throat. It's just how it goes.
I, too, unfortunately am falling victim to the Back to School Bugs. My throat is on fire. I'm sneezing up a storm. But remember... I'm choosing to see the positive side of this, so here it goes: I would rather have all of us be sick NOW, instead of in a few weeks when we celebrate a fifth birthday times four!

Feel better, all of you!
I think one of the upsides of year-round daycare is that the infections are spread around rather evenly.
You last comment is a very good point.
I just can't wait for that when the girls start school next fall...kidding. My daughter Abby has a terrible immune system, so I'm sure she'll be sick all the time! Not looking forward to it! Hope you all feel better soon. :)
What a weird beginning of school for us, too. My 10-year-old came home with strep throat, which to the best of my knowledge, she has never come down with before! Then my 12-year-old got sick, and I thought she might have contracted strep, but it was just a nasty head cold. I'm praying the twins stay healthy, as 2 sick kids at a time is about all I can handle!
I've also read quite a few FB posts about sick kiddos who've just recently gone back to school. I know that will be us someday, and I'm not looking forward to it. My guys haven't been sick much in their short 2.5 years, so I'm sure we'll get hit hard when they start preschool next year. Hopefully our continued participation in playgroup and gymnastics class will give us an introduction to some of those yucky bugs. But I still hope they don't pick up anything too bad. I know they need to build up their immune systems, but it's no fun being sick.
I hope you're all feeling well again soon!
When I read your tittle, I thought about other bugs... the kind that love your hair!!
Nothing is worst then that!! Don't you think???
:-)
I hope everybody gets better soon - and that you have four healthy girls (and healthy parents) for their party in a few weeks!
Just dropped my girls off for the very second day of school ever... and I wasn't surprised when some little girl in their class was coughing all over the place! ICK! :( School-sicknesses are definitely something I am also not looking forward to!
Hope you are feeling better soon Q-mama! :)
I spent my entire first year of school catching something, getting better, then catching the second thing. We had just moved from the country to the inner city.
