To hear my daughters tell it, St. Patrick's Day is going to be something straight out of a horror movie. I'm partially to blame. To get them ready, I told them all about how they'll be wearing green to school next Wednesday. Then I mentioned leprechauns. Oops.
My intention had been to use green food coloring in their milk next week. To prepare them, I told them leprechauns come and play tricks... nothing mean, just silly pranks. Big mistake.
First, they were terrified at the prospect of little "things" coming in their house. They're convinced that if the milk is green it will taste like broccoli. They are now discussing what treasured items they need to hide so the leprechauns won't steal them (blankies, toys, etc.).
So, I'm looking for suggestions. Green milk is out. What simple, fun thing can I do to show them leprechauns mean no harm?

Hide a pot of "gold" (whatever may be precious to your girls) in the house and have them look for the rainbow to find it. Tell them the leprechauns left it there for them.
That's a good idea! They love rainbows, so maybe this would make them like leprechauns a little more!
I have a friend who turns smaller pieces of furniture upside-down and tells her kids that the leprechauns were playing tricks on mommy by making messes.
I love the rainbow idea, I may have to try that with my kids.
Then my girls might decide it's ok to make a mess, too. Oh who am I kidding? They'll make a mess either way.
I love the rainbow to find a pot of "gold" idea =)
I think the rainbow is going to be hard to top!
I was going to say have them hide cookies in their toys, but the rainbow wins.
My mom used to rearrange furniture and toys in my room while I was sleeping. And there was always a plate of green cookies along with a "Happy St. Patrick's from the Leprechauns" card. I always thought St. Patrick's day was a day of great fun. :o)
Oh, green cookies could work, too. They love cookies!!
LOL. That's hysterical!!
I bought little green coins (plastic things from the dollar store) and plan on "hiding" them around the house and going on a "treasure hunt" for leprechaun money. I hadn't thought of anything else but I really LOVE the rainbow idea! That's cute! :)
I like the green coins, too!
Sorry! I'm laughing so hard. Have fun.
