You Just Ate What????

My daughters are constantly suprising me with the foods they will (and won't) eat. Sue-Sue used to scarf down mac and cheese like it was going out of style. Then one day she decided it was "yucky." A few months later she decided she liked it again.
The biggest surprise though has been that my daughters now love salad. They think it's great and what parent doesn't want their children to eat (gasp) vegetables??? They'll eat bagged salad. They'll eat baby spinach salad. They'll eat a "spring mix" salad. What do they want on these salads? You name it, they'll try it: carrots, cucumber, blueberries, strawberries, onion. Who are these pod people and what did they do with my children?
Keep in mind these same girls have a problem eating all the previously mentioned vegetables individually. Tortilla will chew carrots and then refuse to swallow them. Put carrots on a salad and she barely blinks as she eats them. The first few times they ate salad they begged for Ranch dressing. Then one time I offered them a light raspberry vinaigrette, my personal favorite. Now I'm regretting letting them try it because there's rarely any left for me.
I'm sure there are plenty of "food surprises" to come... let's just hope they're all as healthy as this one!

I have given up trying to understand why my boys eat what they eat! I just keep offering them whatever I'm having and see what happens.

That's what I've been doing lately, too. For some reason everything tastes better when it comes from mommy's plate.

Hey, I found you from HDYDI and just started reading! I have an 8 year old step daughter and 8 month old twins. The 8 year old hates all veggies except broccoli, so I have had to resign myslef to broccoli with every meal. I am hopefuly for a day when she decides to like salad like your girls!

I like broccoli but don't think I would want to eat it every day!!! We call it baby trees here in hopes of getting our girls to eat it.

I keep waiting for the day when my children will eat salad! So far my daughter will eat out the tomatoes and my son won't eat anything. They do like broccoli, though - we call it baby trees at our house, too, and I think that's a huge part of their liking it.

Cakes likes tomatoes, too, which is interesting because Hubby and I can't stand them!

Some day they'll figure out vegetables are good for them and they will stop eating them.

I remember when Angel discovered ketchup. One day she ate so much of it she got sick and threw it up while sitting on the couch (that was a nasty mess). Now her favorite condiment is Miracle Whip. Really, it's great to offer lots of different foods before they get older and think anything that looks or smells different is yucky!
