The kindergarten moms (and dads) at my daughters' school are easy to spot. We are the moms who stayed until the first bell on the first day and reluctantly walked to our cars when our children went in the building. We are the moms who stayed until the first bell on the second day, but tried not to be overbearing as our children ran around on the playground before the bell. We are the moms who spent Friday standing off to the side, practically in the parking lot, joking with one another that on Monday we would suck it up and simply drop our children off in the front of the building, let them walk to the playground and stay out there until the first bell all by themselves (well, with teacher supervision, of course).
I don't know about the other moms, but I managed to do just that this morning. It was a little unsettling watching my four girls walk to the back of the school by themselves. Even they weren't sure they were up for the challenge. They made it to the playground and probably forgot about me the minute they climbed on the swings. I'm slowly learning to let go.

My eldest graduates from high school this year.
It doesn't really get easier.
Sounds like you're doing well! This is me next month, and I'm not looking forward to it!
I also love the first day of school picture of you and the girls - forgot to say that on your previous post!
I think I'll simply deal with my "kindergarten issues" for now and try not to think about high school. I'm sure I'll be a blubbering mess when they graduate.
My son starts a Headstart preschool program next Monday. We will see how I do.
What a milestone this is! Do they love it? I hope so.
Preschool was actually pretty easy for me. It was only a few hours and the first year they only went two days a week, so it didn't seem so "grown up!"
So far they still really like it!
Sounds like you're doing great. When I was teaching 3rd grade, I had a few students whose moms were still walking them to the classroom and helping them hang up their backpacks. At least you know you won't be one of those moms. :o)
I remember my mom talking about my first day of school - maybe first grade? She said I wouldn't even turn around to wave goodbye...I just marched straight ahead while she stood there and cried. She said all she wanted was a little wave. :) It sounds like you and your girls are all doing great...well done, Mom!
My girls did that on their first day of preschool!!! For kindergarten they're a little more cautious. Today, though, they jumped out of the car, yelled "Bye mom" and were on their way!
